HandBrake is a free open source video transcoder program that allows you to convert almost any format of video files. Initially designed and maintained by Eric “titer” Petit’s active community, HandBrake facilitates the riping of video from a DVD to an information storage device. The program uses libraries of third parties such as FFmpeg, libvpx, and x265.
HandBrake is a platform-based program that allows video playback on any device. It generates copies of video files, which are converted to the right formats and codecs. This allows you to play it on platforms supporting only certain formats. This software unfortunately does not have a tutorial that supports beginners. The online community, itself, provides detailed documentation on how to use it.
You can use profiles on built-in device presets when you start converting files. The profiles for different devices are preferences optimized. You can choose a universal, but simple one provided by HandBrak that can also be adapted to standard or high-quality transformations. You should also adapt your profile to fit the receiver. These are easy to set up, and you can play with different advanced settings options.
A broad range of sources including popular formats such as MKV, AVI, and MP4 is supported in this application. It can handle most common multimedia files and any DVD or BluRay sources, which have no copy security whatsoever. The formats supported for the output are the following: MP4, M4V, MKV, AVI, H.265 (x265 and QuickSync), H.264 (x264 and QuickSync), H.255 MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, VP9, and Theora container, respectively. Videos are also available.
The HandBrake audio formats such as AAC, HE-AAC, MP3, FLAC, AC3, Vorbis, E-AC3, DTS, DTS-HD, and True HD are also available for converting HandBrake into audio formats. It helps you to convert a dual-pass soundtrack and coded. However, it does not only transform this video transcoder. It has video settings that allow you to label choices for titles and chapters. In designing your scene selection menu you are able to effortlessly jump to scenes and set markers. The software also has options for subtitles to VobSub and closed subtitles.
The Bitrate Calculator also features, allowing the video quality to be adjusted according to the last file size you want. Video filters like Deinterlacing, Decomb, Denoise, Detecine, Deblock, Gray Scaling, Cropping, and Scaling are also provided. It also delivers static live views and video previews. Finally, either the user interface or the command line function allows the program to do the batch encoding. Note, however, that for the type of format that you choose you must have the right codecs installed.
A handBrake is generally a great option for a free video conversion device. It provides a wide variety of features, which make it extremely useful for converting various formats. However, it has a lot of tools, but because of its technical tutorial, it is not convenient for casual users. Veterans may find it polyvalent, so it may be confusing to beginners.
